Continuing Education (CE) Terms and Definitions

Introduction

This guide will outline the definitions for terms used in the Quality module of the Workbench to administrate Continuing Education (CE) for License holders.

What CE is/is not

    • CE and the Quality Module in Thentia allows licensees to submit CE Activities to contribute to their expected total amount of CE credits/hours per renewal period (active license period)
    • CE and the Quality Module in Thentia is not a learning platform, it is a way to capture reported learning activities related to their active licenses’ expected learning requirements.
    • CE in Thentia is not a storage area for content, or approved learning centers/universities

CE Programs

A Continuing Education program can be created and associated with a specific license type in the system. You will need to set the License Type, Status, and the minimum amount of required units/hours needed to validate this license type’s CE requirement. A Period must also be set for Start and End, but also to indicate if this CE Programs period is different from the License Period. All CE Programs contain a pool of CE Plans that are associated to Individual Licensee’s active License records.

CE Plans

A CE Plan is created within the relevant CE Program per License Type. A CE Plan is also where the Individual Licensee’s Activities are located to convey the Units/Hours earned per CE Activity. The CE Plan can be reviewed to determine how many CE Activities have been submitted by the Licensee and to also see the status of this Period’s CE Plan. A CE Plan is automatically associated with a License record when a License Application is approved for that License Type.

CE Activities

Activities - actual learning sessions, seminars, courses, classes attended that equate to a specific amount of Units/Hours associated with the License Types renewal/policy. These are reported by the Licensee in the Licensee Portal.
