Charting
Charting in Thentia Cloud allows for reports to be visualized in meaningful ways. When creating a chart, a crucial first step is to select a specific report to be visualized. Want to learn more about creating reports? Check out our Support Page article on Creating Interactive Queries.
Which types of reports can be displayed in a Chart?
Not all reports can be displayed as Charts. The major requirement is that you must use a report with grouping levels. Standard SQL reports often have levels of grouping, for example:
- Applications by status, city, submitted date
- Licenses by type, status, expiration date
The grouping establishes the bars on a bar chart or the slices on a pie chart.
Note: Therefore, the only charts you can generate through reports that you build through Query Builder are those that are aggregate reports. Want to learn more about creating reports? Check out our Support Page article on Creating Interactive Queries.

X and Y Axis Configuration
After you've:
-Selected a report (Must contain group-by values)
-Selected the desired type of chart
You'll then need to assign the report group-by values for the X and Y axes.
- Click the dropdown to assign a grouping value per axis.
Note: The system may by default select the same grouping value for both axes; if you generate a chart that has the same value for both axes, you may receive an error, or the chart, when rendered, will look like it's missing information.
- After configuring the X and Y axes, Save.
- Then, click the Visualize this Chart button.
-
If there is an error or the chart seems to be missing information, keep in mind:
-Does the selected Report (Query datasource) contain group-by values? (Applications by status / Licenses by status / Businesses by city)
-Incorrectly assigned X and Y values?Show chart Properties
-
The report determines the results brought back.
-Some chart types will not visualize well if there are too many or too few results.
-Try alternative types of charts; various chart visualization types will help the viewer interpret and understand the data.Export Chart
