Change the email, password, or security questions on your Portals account

I want to...

  • I want to change the email address or password that I use to sign in to my Thentia Cloud Portals account.
  • I want to change the security questions on my Thentia Cloud Portals account.

Before you begin

  • This article is about changing the login credentials for a Thentia Cloud Portals account. If you have a Thentia Cloud Workbench account, these instructions do not apply to your account. Instead, please contact your account administrator for help.
  • The instructions in this article assume that you are currently able to access your Portals account. If you are not able to sign in to your Portals account, go to this article instead.

Open your Account Settings page

You can change your account's sign-in email address, your password, or your security questions from the Account Settings page in any Portal.

To access the Account Settings page, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Portals account on any Portal that you use.
  2. After you have signed in, click on either your name in the navigation bar near, and then click on Account Settings, or click on Account Settings in the Portal's navigation sidebar:

  3. From the Account Settings page, you can change your sign-in email address, your password, or your security questions.

Change the sign-in email address on your Portals account

When you sign in to a Portal, you use your email address to identify yourself. If you need to change the email that's associated with your Portals account, you can easily do this at any time from the Account Settings page.

To change the email address you use to sign in to your Portals account, follow these steps:

  1. On the Account Settings page, use the dropdown menu to select the Change Email option.
  2. To ensure that an unauthorized party can't change your login credentials (e.g. if you have left your account logged in on a shared computer), you must enter your current password in the Current Password field.
  3. Enter the new email you want to use in the New Email field, and enter it again in the Confirm Email field.
  4. Click Save to save your changes.

Change the password on your Portals account

If you want to change the password you use to sign in to your Portals account, you can do this at any time.

To change the password you use to sign in to your Portals account, follow these step:

  1. On the Account Settings page, use the dropdown menu to select the Password Reset option.
  2. To ensure that an unauthorized party can't change your login credentials (e.g. if you have left your account logged in on a shared computer), you must enter your current password in the Current Password field.
  3. Enter the new password you want to use in the New password field, and enter it again in the Confirm password field.
  4. Click Save to save your changes.

Change the security questions on your Portals account

If you need to change the security questions that you are prompted with during the Two-Stage Authentication step when you sign in, you can do so at any time. If you want, you can also use the same questions, and change only the answers.

Tip

As a security best practice, you should not select any security question whose answer can be easily found or guessed by a third party. For additional security, consider treating your security questions like a "second password": instead of entering the actual answer to a question, use a word or phrase you can remember, but which would be impossible for anyone else to guess.

To change the password you use to sign in to your Portals account, follow these step:

  1. On the Account Settings page, use the dropdown menu to select the Two-Stage Authentication: Security Questions option.
  2. For each of the three security questions, select the question you want to use and write your answer into the field provided.
    • Remember that the answers to your security questions are case-sensitive: when answering a security question during the sign-in process, you must enter any upper- and lower-case characters in the answer exactly as you specified them when you set up the question.
  3. Click Save to save your changes.
